Deux ans en Corée du Nord (2011-2013) : notes du premier directeur du bureau français de coopération de Pyongyang
Après un rappel sur la naissance de la République populaire démocratique de Corée (RPDC), la guerre de Corée, avec la participation française à la force d’intervention de l’ONU, la conférence abordera, entre autres sujets, les relations franco-nord-coréennes, la présence française en Corée, l’accès aux sources d’information et aux données, la question de l’aide publique au développement, comment voyager en Corée du Nord…
Ancien diplomate français (1984-2017), Olivier Vaysset a été en poste principalement en Asie : Laos 1989-92, Japon 1992-95, Birmanie 1995-99, Taïwan 2002-06, Singapour 2006-08, D.P.R. de Corée en tant que 1er directeur du Bureau de coopération français à Pyongyang 2011-13, Consul général à Chengdu, R.P. Chine 2013-16. Ses dossiers ont été très divers, couvrant notamment la politique étrangère et la coopération.
A partir de 2018 il a donné un cours sur « La politique asiatique de la France & de l’Europe depuis la Seconde Guerre mondiale » au Centre International Keio, au Japon. Il a obtenu un certificat d’histoire de la Chine moderne, Universités de Nanjing et Pékin après 2 années en tant qu’étudiant boursier du gouvernement chinois (1979-1981) et est titulaire d’une maîtrise en histoire et en langue et civilisation chinoises de l’Université Paris 7.

“2 years in North Korea (2011-2013): notes from the First Director of the French Office in Pyongyang”
After a reminder on the birth of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK), and on the Korean War, with the French participation in the UN intervention force, the conference will address, among other subjects, Franco-North-Korean relations, the French presence in Korea, access to sources of information and data, the issue of official development assistance, travelling in North Korea, etc.
Former French diplomat (1984-2017), Olivier Vaysset was posted mainly in Asia: Laos 1989-92, Japan 1992-95, Burma 1995-99, Taiwan 2002-06, Singapore 2006-08, D.P.R. of Korea as 1st Director of the French Cooperation Office in Pyongyang 2011-13, Consul General in Chengdu, P.R. China 2013-16. His files have been very diverse, covering notably foreign policy and cooperation.
From 2018 he gave a course on “The Asian policy of France & Europe since the Second World War” at Keio International Center in Japan. He obtained a certificate in History of Modern China, Nanjing and Peking Universities after 2 years as a Chinese government scholarship student (1979-1981) and holds a master’s degree in history and Chinese language and civilization from Paris 7 University.
